EXTENDED CALL FOR PAPERS
Acta Asiatica Varsoviensia, an academic journal published by the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences and by the Cultivate Fundation, invites article proposals for a special issue on inter-segmental power-sharing, especially of a consociational and centripetal kind, in Asia and Oceania.
In particular, we welcome contributions that address the following questions:
How to determine causal relations between power-sharing arrangements and the durable political stability and peace in multi-segmental (especially multi-ethnic and multi-religious) societies?
In what context, which, and how power-sharing arrangements should be improved?
What are the cases and obstacles of adopting power-sharing arrangements from one country or region to another?
Is democracy without power-sharing arrangements detrimental to the durable political stability and peace in multi-segmental societies (especially the post-conflict ones)?
Is power-sharing likely or needed to be implemented in the judiciary and army?
What are the ways of accommodating ascriptive and non-ascriptive identity groups or segments in power-sharing theory and practice?
What are the informal institutions and mechanisms of power-sharing?
What are the cases and ways of the implementation of power-sharing at the regional level?
What are the cases and ways of implementing the economic power-sharing?
What are the cases and ways of implementing power-sharing in public sector institutions?
What are the cases and ways of implementing power-sharing in the media?
What is the standpoint of political philosophy on designing power-sharing arrangements, their future, and moral value?
What are the complimentary mechanisms of power-sharing and where are they implemented?
Case studies are welcomed!
