Acta Asiatica Varsoviensia (AAV) is a scholarly journal of the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences dedicated to various aspects of the culture of the Asian continent. AAV publishes texts belonging to the humanities, in particular cultural and religious studies, history, as well as philosophy and literary studies.

 

The journal is published in English, but publications in the congress languages are also possible.

 

The journal is indexed in several international reference databases, including SCOPUS, CEJSH, DOAJ, EBSCO, ERIH Plus, Google Scholar.

 

All articles are available in Open Access.

No fees are charged for submitting and publishing articles, as well as for making them available in Open Access.

The journal Acta Asiatica Varsoviensia was started in the year 1988 by professor Roman Sławiński, associated with the Centre for Studies on Non-European Countries (in 2010 transformed into the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures). Initially the journal was published in Polish language. Since the year 2000 the journal was issued in English language, accepting also articles in German and French. The first issue of the journal published entirely in English was the thirteenth volume.
